Jūrmalnieki is a folk band. It was started in November of 1992
by Aleks Humeyumptewa, Ēriks Humeyumptewa and Mārtiņš Rubenis
when they decided that they didn't want to use "canned" music
for Latvian events anymore.
Our style is like that of ages past - people living in the same village
or community come together to play music and have a good time. We
play for dances, weddings, and other Latvian events. How it goes is how
it goes... We sing songs from all regions/dialects of Latvia, some with accompaniment, others acapella, and play folk dance music as well. If the audience is really animated, we can even dance a few folk dances with them. |
